4 Cara Mudah Mengawetkan Cabai Agar Tetap Lezat dan Pedas

Rasanya memang kurang enak kalau masakannya tidak ada tambahan rasa pedasnya. 

Apalagi sekarang saya tinggal di pulau Sumatera yang terkenal jago pedas. Otomatis, stok cabai di rumah harus selalu ada. Tapi karena cabai merupakan bahan yang mudah busuk, banyak orang yang enggan menyimpan cabai. Padahal ada beberapa cara mudah untuk mengawetkan cabai agar tahan lama. 

1. Buat jadi cabai kering

Jika Anda ingin membuat cabai lebih tahan lama, anda dapat membuatnya jadi cabai kering. Pertama-tama, jemur cabai yang sudah dicuci bersih di atas rak, baki, tampah, atau wadah datar lainnya. Biarkan cabai selama beberapa hari hingga kering, lalu masukkan ke dalam wadah tertutup dan simpan ke dalam lemari es. 

Selain itu, anda bisa gunakan oven untuk mengeringkan cabai. Tapi jangan lupa untuk membelah cabai jadi dua bagian memanjang. Tata cabai di loyang dengan sisi biji menghadap ke atas, barulah cabai bisa dipanggang dalam oven. Jika ingin lebih awet lagi, anda bisa menumbuk cabai setelah keluar dari oven, sebelum akhirnya disimpan. 

2. Giling cabai dengan tambahan minyak sayur dan garam

Cabai giling juga lebih praktis saat akan dipakai memasak. Tapi jangan lupa menambahkan minyak sayur dan garam saat menghaluskan cabai. Anda bisa menumbuk secara manual atau menggunakan blender yang lebih mudah. Terakhir, simpan cabai giling dalam wadah kedap udara lalu masukkan ke kulkas. 

3. Ubah jadi asinan cabai

Selain digiling, cabe juga dapat diawetkan dengan cara dibuat jadi asinan. Potong cabai memanjang dan masukkan ke dalam wadah dengan tambahan air matang, cuka, gula, dan garam. Simpan dalam lemari es dan biarkan semalam sebelum digunakan untuk masak ataupun langsung disantap. 

4. Bekukan cabai

Simpan cabai yang sudah dibuang tangkainya dan di cuci bersih ke dalam plastik. Tutup plastik dengan rapat dan usahakan tidak ada udara yang tertinggal di dalamnya. Simpan plastik dalam freezer dan biarkan cabai hingga beku. Dengan cara ini, cabai bisa bertahan hingga berbulan-bulan lamanya.
